Our fertility journey began a few years into our marriage when I was in my mid 20’s. We immediately began with IVF/ICSI due to a life-threatening illness my husband had back when we were still dating in college. After several years of failed cycles, miscarriages and eventually a twin pregnancy loss at 17 weeks, we pivoted to international adoption to adopt our first son from Kazakhstan. Once we brought our son home, we wanted to continue to grow our family and eventually tried IVF one more time and successfully delivered boy/girl twins. After a long and arduous journey filled with many ups and downs, we had finally created our modern day family via IVF and adoption. Sounds simple, right? It wasn’t. But there was even more to come.
